For larger, or more complex commercial painting contracts, it can be difficult to simply look at the project (particularly if you are pricing to a set of drawings or a bill of quantities) and 'guesstimate' the number of days required to complete the painting works and your materials budget.

Quick Paint Rate now gives you the power to calculate your PROJECT TARGET COMPLETION DAYS and PROJECT MATERIALS BUDGET from QUICK PAINT RATE rates you have used to price painting projects to a bill of quantities or a project you have measured yourself (either from drawings or on-site measure)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When you price a project using QUICK PAINT RATE (to bill of quantities or project you have measured yourself), you will use the overall total rate displayed to calculate your total tender price.

Once secured, to calculate PROJECT TARGET COMPLETION DAYS and PROJECT MATERIALS BUDGET you will use the displayed Lab/Overheads & Profit and Materials rate split parts of the rate.

FOR EXAMPLE: (Note: Rates shown are for example purposes only and DO NOT reflect current rates):

Say you calculated the following overall painting rate using an OVERALL DAILY PAINTER CHARGE OF £160.00/day:

1. Emulsion to Walls: 2500m2 @ £5.00/m2

Say QUICK PAINT RATE shows the rate splits on the above rate as:

1. Labour/OHP: £4.30/m2

2. Materials: £0.70/m2

Obviously, to calculate your materials budget for this item, you just multiply 2500m2 x £0.70/m2 = £1,760.00

To calculate the TARGET COMPLETION DAYS for this item:

1. Multiply the quantity by the Lab/OHP split, i.e. 2500m2 x £4.30/m2 = £10,750.00. Next,

2. Divide the value of the item (i.e. £10,750.00) by the overall daily painter charge you used to calculate the rate (i.e.£160/day).

£10,750.00 ÷ by £160 = 67.19 DAYS (This is the number of days for ONE painter).

FOLLOW THIS PROCESS FOR ALL THE ITEMS OF WORK/QUANTITIES THAT MAKE UP THE PROJECT. YOU THEN ADD ALL the INDIVIDUAL ITEM TARGET COMPLETION DAYS TOGETHER TO GIVE YOU THE OVERALL TOTAL PROJECT TARGET COMPLETION DAYS.
