Let's face it, there are a number of digital drawing takeoff software packages out there, but only one that works directly in MS Excel as an add-in.................... Bidscreen XL.
Why is this so important?
Well, it means that since Bidscreen XL is integrated into MS Excel, your measure (and measure audit trail) is automatically recorded directly in any MS Excel workbook.
Other takeoff packages tend to record the measure to the pdf file and then record to a list that can be saved as a CSV file.
The disadvantage of this is that if you want to cost your project using a Excel spreadsheet, your audit trail is split between two different disconnected applications, the pdf file and Excel spreadsheet.
So, if you are an Estimator/QS/Trade Sub-Contractor who wants to organize and record your takeoff quantities and estimate in MS Excel then Bidscreen XL is the best option. If you simply want to record the takeoff to the pdf file and keep the estimate totally separate, then one of the other takeoff software packages may be more suited to you. It really depends on how you want work.
For a FREE 15 day trial of Bidscreen XL give us a call and we will help you to downlaod and install on your computer and show you how to use the software (via a screenshare demonstration).
Happy Estimating
